Struggle or a general AI chatbot.

Many people already talk through a hard day with a general-purpose AI assistant. If that helps you, keep doing it. Here is what is different about Struggle, stated plainly, so you can decide whether it adds anything for you.

If you’re in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Neither option is an emergency service, and AI can miss signs of crisis.

What a general AI chatbot is for

  • It is built to help with almost anything: writing, questions, planning, code, and talking things through.
  • It can do far more things than Struggle can.
  • How it answers a heavy moment depends on how you ask and on the product’s settings; you usually set the tone yourself.
  • What happens to your conversations depends on the provider and your account settings, so check its privacy policy.

What Struggle is for

  • One job: a calm place on your iPhone to put a heavy day into words.
  • You start directly in the chat. You can write, or dictate where available, in your own language: the app is available in 50 languages, regional variants included.
  • Replies are short and calm. They may ask one honest question or suggest one small step, and you take what helps.
  • You can save a step and pick it up later. Only a step you enable can shape future replies.
  • Immediate help, with emergency and support lines, stays reachable outside the daily limit and the paywall.

What happens to your words

In Struggle, your chat history stays on your iPhone. To reply, recent messages, the name you chose and your support focuses pass through Struggle’s server to an AI provider; conversation transcripts are not stored in Struggle’s database. The privacy policy names the providers and what each one receives.

Struggle’s replies are generated by AI models too. The difference is not a different kind of intelligence: it is what the app is set up to do, and what it keeps.

What both have in common

  • Neither is a person, a therapist or a doctor.
  • Neither diagnoses, treats or watches over you.
  • Both can be wrong. Take what helps and leave the rest.

Which one, when

  • You want one tool for everything and you’re happy to set the tone yourself: a general AI chatbot.
  • You want a quiet space only for heavy days, with the chat kept on your phone and one small step at the end: Struggle, on the App Store.
  • It has gone on for weeks, or you want treatment: a doctor, a therapist or a counsellor. Safety lists where to find human support.

Questions

Is Struggle just a general AI chatbot with a different look?

Its replies come from AI models, like a general chatbot’s. What differs is the job: Struggle is set up for heavy days only, replies briefly, can save one small step, keeps chat history on your iPhone and keeps Immediate help outside the paywall.

Can I use both?

Yes. Nothing in Struggle depends on another app, and you can delete your Struggle account and data from Settings in the app at any time.

Does Struggle keep everything I say?

Your chat history stays on your iPhone, and conversation transcripts are not stored in Struggle’s database. A saved step you confirm syncs with Struggle’s server, and only a step you enable can be included in future replies.
